Abo and Company Surges In Pennsylvania

Having served South Jersey for over twenty years, the accounting firm of Abo and Company, LLC, entered the Pennsylvania market in 2005, as a result of an acquisition, The new office, located on Bridge Street and Trenton Avenue in Morrisville, is performing quite well, growing nearly 30% in its first year and similarly now in its second year.. "The response has been sensational," stated Patrick Sharkey, CPA, MST, the tax partner based in the office. "The existing client base, and a swell of new businesses, have taken advantage of the array of services and level of expertise that we have to offer. In addition to the traditional accounting and tax preparation services, Abo and Company has niche expertise in estate planning, tax negotiations, business valuations, forensic accounting, and matrimonial litigation support.”

Martin Abo, CPA, CVA/ABV, the managing partner of the firm, loves the demographics of the Lower Bucks County region. "The expanding small business market in the area presents an exciting opportunity for us; our collective professional backgrounds have turned out to be a great fit."

Abo Advises Students about Exciting Opportunities for Accountants

Accounting professionals are in demand and salaries are rising. That's what students at Eastern High School in Voorhees discovered when Martin Abo, CPA/ABV, CVA visited to discuss career opportunities in accounting. The presentation was part of the statewide "Pay It Forward" program, initiated by the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), to alert students to the diverse range of rewarding career opportunities available to those who pursue an accounting degree. During the month the program ran, Marty and more than 100 other members of the NJSCPA went back to school to discuss careers in accounting with more than 5,000 students.

The new, more rigorous accounting standards mandated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and related legislation has contributed to an increased demand for accounting professionals. The "Pay It Forward" program focused on the widespread recognition that accounting provides an ideal foundation for many business careers. As old stereotypes have faded in recent years, the role of the accountant has changed dramatically. Today, accounting is a fast-paced, dynamic profession. The "Pay It Forward" presentations included videos that allowed students to learn about the rewarding career of a CPA, fun facts, and an overview of the range of career choices available after graduation.
